I am so excited to once again be participating in Kylie’s Monthly International Highlights Blog Hop challenge for May. This challenge is a gallery of Demonstrators’ projects from all over the world and then our cards are voted on. The theme of this challenge is ‘Thank You’. I decide to try my hand at water coloring. Tulips are one of my favorite Spring flowers so I decided to try water coloring them.
Cutting and Instructions to create this card:
- Card base is Pool Party cut at 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ scored and folded at 4 1/4″
- Basic White layer is 4″ x 5 1/4″
- Emboss the Basic White layer with the Timeworn Type 3D embossing folder and glue to card base with liquid glue
- Die cut a scalloped layer using the Scalloped Contour Dies from the Flowering Fields Designer Series Paper
- Die cut a circle using the Layering Circle Dies in the Vellum 12×12 Layering Designs
- Attach the circle to the scalloped rectangle with a little liquid glue but only where you know it will be hidden by the tulips
- Die cut the tulips using the Tulip die in Fluid Water Color paper
- To paint the tulips and leaves I used the Water Painter Brushes and So Saffron, Mango Melody and Pumpkin Pin Ink and the leaves, Pear Pizzazz, Garden Green and Evening Evergreen. When they were almost dry I used the wider paint brush and brushed them lightly with Craft White ink
- Assemble and attach the tulips with dimensionals onto the scalloped rectangle layer
- Loop some Gold Simply Elegant Trim and attach it with Tear and Tape
- On a scrape of Basic White, heat emboss with Gold a sentiment from the Nature’s Print stamp set
- Fussy cut the sentiment and attach it over the gold trim with dimensionals
- Place some Iridescent Rhinestones to the card
- Place a Brushed Brass Butterfly to the card for a little extra detail
