I created this card for the March Crafty Collaborations Color Challenge. For is card we are to make a card using the colors selected. I decide to use one of my favorite stamp set and dies, the Pansy Patch and Pansy dies. Here are the colors in the challenge.
This is my card and I managed to use all the colors in the challenge.
Cutting and instructions to create this card:
- Card base is Basic White card stock cut at 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, scored and folded at 4 1/4″
- Cut a piece of the Distress Gold Specialty Paper at 4″ x 5 1/4″. To save some of the Gold Specialty Paper, cut the center out leaving a 1/2″ border all around
- Attach the gold frame to the card base with liquid glue
- Cut a piece of the Basic White Card stock 3 3/4″ x 5″
- Emboss the Basic White card stock layer with the Exposed Brick embossing folder and attach it to the card base with liquid glue
- On a piece of Basic White card stock, die cut the pansy petals for 3 pansies and 2 buds and die cut the leaves in Garden Green card stock and also die cut 3 faces for the pansies in Basic Black card stock
- Using a sponge dauber, sponge the edges of each of the pansy petals and then lightly sponge in the center of each petal as well.
- Lightly curl each of the petals, giving them some dimension
- Assemble the flowers together with dimensionals and glue dots
- Add the faces to the pansies with liquid glue
- Add a Wild Wheat dot from the 2023 – 2024 In Color Dots to the face of the pansies
- Sponge the buds and curl them and place a dimensional in between the petals also adding dimensional
- Glue the bud stems to the bud petals with liquid glue
- Arrange the pansies on the card and when you have decided on their placement, add them to the card with dimensionals, tucking the leaves under the pansies with a dimensional
- On a scrap of Basic White card stock, stamp a sentiment from the Pansy Patch stamp set in Versa Mark and heat emboss in Gold embossing powder
- Attach the sentiment to the card with dimensionals
Here is a video for another card using this sponging technique for the pansies.
